Low cost Bioimpedance Applications: a solution to the .csv files problem for the AD5933EB
Bioimpedance measurements provide information about the electrical properties of different biological systems. The commercial equipment for taking this type of measurements, bioimpedancemeters, is highly expensive. Added to its cost in countries such as Argentina the import of the same is usually problematic. This is why evaluation boards like AD5933EB (Analog Devices, USA) and AFE4300 (Texas Instruments, USA) are widely used for experimental measurements. The AD5933EB board, through its software, delivers a file in .csv extension with the measured data, but this file has an edition pattern that constitutes a failure for operating systems in Latin languages: the separation of values and the separation of the integer part and the decimal part of a real number is done with the comma character (“,”), which produces an error when separating the data of each variable with conventional data analysis tools. Our group generated three possible solutions reaching the best implementation with the use of a regular expression. Finally an application was generated to repair the files delivered by the AD5933EB board available in http://bioimpedancia.untdf.edu.ar.
