Manufacturing of customized prostheses for neurosurgery based on 3D printing technology: first steps

Abstract. In this work, the implementation of an original methodology for an indirect method to fabricate a customized prosthesis for neurosurgery and other medical specialities is described. In this preliminary study, 3D printing was used to obtain molds in flexible material. Different material characteristics and sterilization methods suitable for the selected printed material were analysed. Finally, a future strategy to carry out a pilot study to implement the proposed methodology for the design of customized prostheses in neurosurgery was proposed.
